Community Carbon Use Reduction @ Brown (CCURB)

Brown received a grant from the Frank Foundation to support staff, faculty and student projects focused on carbon reduction projects in our local community. The CCURB Committee is developing a pilot grant program, and is offering information sessions to provide an overview of the grant, its purpose, and guidelines and requirements for proposal submission.

Student Magazine Submissions – Spring 2008
The Catalyst, the student-run magazine that bridges the gap between science and humanities has an open call for submissions in any form—poetry, creative non-fiction, features, exposés and more. It can even be a paper you’ve written for class! The only rule is that your work must have a scientific element to it, though it doesn’t necessarily have to be “hard” science.

Student Essay Contest
The Presidential Forum on Renewable Energy is sponsoring a student essay contest on the topic of a renewable energy strategy for America. The contest is promoted by Laura Lehmann, a recent Brown graduate now at the Presidential Forum.
The basics:
- Develop a 4-6 point renewable energy plan
- Write a persuasive essay weighing the plan’s costs and benefits
- $10,000 prizes for the top three essays
