Irreplaceable – Photo Exhibit Tour
Earthjustice, a non-profit environmental law firm, launched a photo exhibit tour called Irreplaceable, starting Providence at the Peerless Building. The exhibit features moving photos of endangered species by Galen Rowell, Art Wolfe, and others.
The exhibit runs in Providence from April 3rd to the 26th before moving on to Montana, Seattle, San Francisco, LA, New York, and finally ending in Washington DC in the spring of 2009 at the time when Sheldon Whitehouse's climate change bill is expected to come up for a vote.

Newcomb's Wildflower Guide
Saturday May 24th and Sunday June 8th

Kathy Barton, past president of RIWPS and a Certified Interpretive Guide will show how to use the key within the book to quickly identify and lean about our wildflowers. The first of the two sessions on May 24th from 9:00am to noon will include a workshop and fieldwork. The second session of Sunday June 8th from 9:00am to noon will be a field trip to a different site that more experience can be acquired. Wear sturdy shoes and bring a copy of the Newcombe's Guide.

Environmental Challenge International (ECi)

The Air & Waste Management Association, one of the world’s oldest and most respected organizations of environmental professionals, will host its first annual student ECi during its 101st Annual Conference & Exhibition. The ECi is a team competition in which students at all levels present a solution to an environmental challenge based on the experiences of our members. Entrants must consider regulatory approaches, political and community issues, and technical and scientific solutions.

Intern Position Available - U.S. Department of Justice Environment and Natural Resources Division, Law and Policy Section
The Law and Policy Section (LPS) advises and assists the Assistant Attorney General on legal and policy issues. Working with the Office of Legislative Affairs, LPS coordinates the Environment and Natural Resources Division's legislative program.
Duties of the unpaid undergraduate intern position include: attending congressional hearings and reporting on environmental legislation; researching legal and policy issues; and providing support for the section's amicus litigation.

Paid Summer Internships – Institute for Community Research
The Youth Action Research Institute (YARI) of the Institute for Community Research (ICR) in Hartford, CT has summer internships available for graduate students interested in working with and training youth to conduct Participatory Action Research (PAR). YARI uses a PAR model to empower youth to make changes in their communities. Each summer YARI conducts a Summer Youth Research Institute for high school students in Hartford, Connecticut. This summer we are interested in recruiting at least one intern with interest and experience in using Visual Research such as PhotoVoice as a research method.
Internships run from 9th June 2008 through 4th August 2008. Stipend: $3,000
