Admissions
Undergraduate
We encourage prospective undergraduate students to visit the UEL at 135 Angell Street and to speak with current undergraduates about the program. Meetings with faculty may also be scheduled (in advance) during the school year. Prospective students may also enjoy attending a class or a departmental seminar.
Interested students should visit the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for additional information on the application process.

Applications to the Graduate School may be completed electronically or requested in hard copy at http://gradschool.brown.edu/go/admissions.
There is no hard deadline to apply to the Environmental Studies MA program. However, the Graduate School imposes a deadline of January 2 for all applications for financial aid. Even students not applying for financial aid should sumbit their applications by February 1 for full consideration, since fewer slots will be available the later an application is received.
A writing sample is required of all applicants. Most applicants submit either a term paper or a chapter from a thesis, although other forms of writing are acceptable as well. The admissions committee will not read more than ten pages of your sample, however, so it is not necessary to submit a sample much longer than this limit.
